Mick Guthrie was born in Ireland and studied Marine Engineering at the Cork Institute of Technology. After a fifteen year career which took him to the top of his profession Michael embarked on a sea change,or should that be a land change, in order to pursue another passion of his, art.

Michael is self taught in ceramic sculpture. Drawing on his engineering background he has been able to discover for himself an individual set of clay sculpting and firing rules always enjoying the trouble shooting and creative process. This has allowed Michael to create beautiful and unique works such as seen in this website. Many cultural influences from all over the world come into play in michael's work from his days at sea.

His work has been sold through the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, where Michael and his wife Nicole developed a special range of merchandise for the NGAs' "Book of Kells" exhibition. His works are also currently selling through the National Museum Of Australia Canberra. In the past Michael's work has been exhibited at a number of shows and through a number of galleries, including the Mosman Community Art Gallery.

Michaels artworks have been sold to private collectors all over the world. He is an established artist who brings a fresh, unique and individual style to clay sculpture. Captivated by the beauty and balance of nature, Michael has paid tribute to Mother Nature in Clay Sculptue and canvas paintings which are available through this website. Michael is very much a hands on artist and loves to chat with others about their art needs and is happy to work with clients in designing pieces from a brief for their homes, offices or friends. Michael strives to provide a excellent and uniquely personal artistic service and loves feedback on his art.
